The Koi is a passenger ship of the Adler ships . On the one hand, it is used as a charter ship for events and conferences along the North and Baltic Sea coasts. In the summer season it is also used as a venue for various party series.

history

The ship was built as hull number 1471 at the Husum shipyard . The keel was laid on February 26th, the launch on May 12th, 1980. In June 1980 the ship was completed and delivered as Dania to the sea tourism shipping company or Dania Line at the time. The passenger ship operated from Nysted on the island of Lolland to Burgstaaken / Fehmarn , but was later also used in traffic from Rødbyhavn . In 2002 it was renamed Adler Dania . The Paulsen shipping company bought the ship in 2005. It got its original name again, Dania . Since September 20, 2006 she has been registered with the island and Halligreederei in Westerland on Sylt, which belongs to the Paulsen family . From 2000 to 2005 the ship sailed under the flag of the Liberia flag with the home port Monrovia . Since 2005 the ship has been sailing under the German flag again and was used as a butter ship between Heringsdorf and Swinemünde (Polish: Świnoujście) on the island of Usedom until the end of 2008 .

In 2008, the ship was in the port of Peenemunde launched . In the summer of 2012 it was temporarily chartered to the shipping company Ostsee-Tour, which it used from the end of July to the end of September as Dania representing Cap Arcona for bathing trips and excursions around Rügen. In summer 2013 it was used temporarily for party trips from Sylt.

In 2014 the ship was converted into a so-called "event ship" at the Husum shipyard and has been used as a Koi on the North and Baltic Seas from different ports since July of that year .

Border incident in 2006

On the afternoon of October 17, 2006, shortly before the ship's arrival in the Polish port of Swinoujscie, an incident occurred. Three plainclothes passengers stated that they were Polish customs officers and asked the staff to access the on-board shop (which is closed in Polish waters) in order to confiscate spirits, as these were not taxed in Poland. Since, according to the shipping company, the entire cigarette stocks on board had been confiscated several times by Polish officials and then transported away in private cars without receipt and without written justification and only ten days before 380,000 cigarettes had been confiscated by civilian customs officers in Swinoujscie the 63-year-old captain Heinz Arendt asked for the ID, but the three people could not have shown clear ID. He had discussed this with his shipping company. In addition, the ISPS alarm was triggered at 3:45 p.m.

The Dania at the Heringsdorf pier

Shortly before berthing at the port of Swinoujscie, the captain urgently asked for permission to leave because of an injured person on board, but with the intention of calling at a German port and clarifying the matter before the German authorities. The Adler Dania then turned around 200 meters in front of the pier at around 4 p.m. and set course for Heringsdorf in Germany when a Polish border patrol boat ( Hull number SG-145) appeared. According to the captain, a pistol was fired three or four times from there, including in the air towards the bridge. According to a spokesman for the Polish border guard in Swinoujscie, the warning shots were two shots from a signal pistol with blue signal ammunition. In Heringsdorf, the captain handed the three customs officers over to the federal police, who arrested the customs officers at short notice.

Following the scandal, the captain was accused of escaping and kidnapping from the Polish side because, in addition to the customs officers, some of the passengers also wanted to disembark in Swinoujscie. The Adler Dania is also "undesirable" in Poland. Two days later the voyages with the Adler XI and other captain were resumed.

In 2008 there was a trial in Wolgast against the captain, also against the managing director of the island and Hallig shipping company and against the operations manager. The prosecution accused him of robbing the customs officers of their freedom and forcing the crew of the speedboat to keep the boat shut with his ship. The captain was sentenced by the Wolgast district court to a fine of 4050 euros for coercing a Polish border patrol boat, but was acquitted of the allegation of depriving three civilly dressed Polish customs officers because it was a so-called permission error. The civilian-clad customs officers had only insufficiently identified themselves and had not, as is customary under international regulations, with a bilingual document. The public prosecutor's office had demanded a suspended prison sentence of eight months and appealed, but withdrew it at the appeal hearing on November 15, 2010 in the Stralsund district court, since the competent chamber indicated after the first witnesses had been questioned that it was not dated Wolgast judgment to deviate.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two twelve - cylinder four - stroke diesel engines. The MWM motors, each with an output of 695  kW, act on two fixed propellers via a gearbox. The ship thus reaches a speed of 15  knots .

The ship is equipped with a bow thruster . This has an output of 100 kW.

Three generators with an apparent power of 140 kVA each  and an emergency generator with an apparent power of 45 kVA are available for generating electricity.

The hull of the ship is reinforced with ice ( ice class E ).
