Kollund is a place on the north bank of the Flensburg Fjord in the south of Denmark with almost 1000 inhabitants. The place belongs to the Aabenraa municipality in the Syddanmark region .

The scenic coastal road Fjordvejen runs through the village . The Lille Strand or Kollund Strand and the four-star Hotel Fakkelgaarden are located on the street, housed in the former Kollund Youth Hostel (Kolund Vandrehjem) built in 1934 . A campsite , Frigård Camping Kollund at Kummelefort 14 in the east of the village - not to be confused with DCU-Camping Kollund in Kollund Østerskov - is also a mainstay of tourism in this area, which is around eleven kilometers from Flensburg by road.

The Kollunder Church was built in 1971 according to plans by the architect Karsten Rønnov.

The Kollund Mole ferry pier , where the butter steamers of the Fördeschifffahrt stopped until 1999, became famous . In 2010, the pier was included in the route of the "apple trip", which is taken from the museum harbor in Flensburg to the annual apple market in mid-October.

The Kollunder Forest was owned by the city of Flensburg from 1883 to 2006 , even after the border was drawn in 1920 .

Since 2010, the Lille beach has been the setting for the one-day Kollund Beach Festival (German: Kollunder Beach Festival ). The music event, which is limited to 1000 guests, is characterized by a “familiar flair with a maritime ambience” ( Der Nordschleswiger 2014). According to Flensborg Avis, the "absolutely smukkeste festival" in Denmark presents a number of Danish bands every year at the beginning of August.

Attractions

In addition to the Kollund Forest , the Kollund Kirke is one of the sights of the small town . The small, modern church was consecrated on May 2, 1971. From the Kollund Mole area, you can see the Mürwik Naval School on the opposite side of the fjord .

various

  • In 1917, shooting for the propaganda film Hein Petersen, from ship's boy to sailor, took place in the Mürwiker torpedo station . In the said film, the Kollunder Ufer with the Hotel Bad Kollund, a Kollunder jetty and a Kollunder bathing site were installed immediately after a recording of the Mürwik Naval School (minute 6:50). These film recordings are likely to be the oldest film recordings from Kollund.
