The Rapid Operations Command was formed from the units of the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Brigade as part of the 2016 army reform . Several battalions and units of different branches of arms in Vienna , Lower Austria and Burgenland were subordinate to him. The command of the association was in Mautern on the Danube . On April 25, 2019, the command was reformed as the 3rd Fighter Brigade.
history
As a consequence of the refugee crisis in 2015 , the armed forces increased their number of units on the one hand and further specialization and reorganization on the other. For the former 3rd Panzer Grenadier Brigade , this meant that it was transferred to the Rapid Operations Command as part of this reform .
The following area of responsibility was assigned to the armed forces' range of tasks to the newly created association:
“The association is quickly available and its soldiers specialize in deployments in urban areas. Your main task is to support the defense against terrorist threats and to maintain security and order after a terror situation in which the security forces cannot get by. "
Due to this specialization in operations in urban areas and support in the anti-terrorist defense, the command of the military patrol and military police and the command of the NBC defense took place in the course of the transfer . In return, the 35th Panzer Grenadier Battalion was transferred to the 4th Panzer Grenadier Brigade.
The new area of responsibility of the association also meant that some of the battalions taken over by the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Brigade had to be converted and given new unit names:
- Staff battalion 3 emerged from the previous 3 armored staff battalion
- The reconnaissance and artillery battalion 3 became the reconnaissance battalion 3.
- The Panzer Battalion 33 was reclassified into the Jäger Battalion 33.
