The Kreisklinik Wörth adDonau (formerly Kreiskrankenhaus Wörth ) is a TÜV- certified clinic and is run as an in-house company for basic and standard care . It is the only hospital sponsored by the district of Regensburg in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria and has developed into a health competence center through the formation of cooperations and networks with resident doctors and clinics . Since July 30, 2016 it has also been an academic teaching hospital of the University of Regensburg .

history

On the initiative of a local chaplain , the first district hospital was built in 1859 at "Petersplatz" in Wörth an der Donau . The patients were cared for by sisters from the Order of the Poor Franciscan Sisters , later also called Mallersdorfer Sisters. In 1920, a new district hospital was inaugurated at today's location "Am Hohen Rain" , which was state-of-the-art at the time. Operating rooms , an X-ray system , rooms for lying cures and baths were available for up to 40 patients . In 1956 the hospital, which had become too small in the meantime, was expanded to include a bed wing with a bath and massage department.

From 1972 onwards, extensive modernization work was carried out and an additional wing was added. Technical systems, modern operating rooms with side rooms and an outpatient clinic, hospital room, a gynecological department with maternity ward and baby room were housed here.

From 1987 to 1994 further renovation and renovation measures were carried out. All organizational processes for patient care could be optimized again. The care areas of the building from 1956 were also extensively renovated, another extension for the functional areas of cardiology and gastroenterology was built, the entrance and outside areas were redesigned and the hospital driveway was rebuilt. Extensive renovations were also carried out in the operating theater and intensive care area , a recovery room was created and parts of the building services were renewed.

In July 2002 the general renovation of the district hospital began. The cost of this measure amounted to around 17.4 million euros. Just one year later, in September 2003, the inauguration of a new building from the first construction cycle was celebrated. In this heart of the clinic are u. a. the hospital chapel, the entrance hall and two wards with patient rooms. In 2005 a further six hospital rooms with 18 beds as well as two nurses' bases and common rooms were available. This made 22 new sick rooms with 51 beds available. A computer tomograph was installed in the expanded X-ray department and a generously equipped emergency room unit with examination and treatment rooms as well as other new hospital rooms were handed over to their destination. A central recording unit and another operating room , new building technology, the laboratory and the bed control center were also created.

In further construction phases from 2007, not only the entire building technology was renewed, but also the rest of the patient rooms, the conversion of the physical therapy and the kitchen as well as the renovation of the operating theater and the intensive care unit.

With this package of measures of the district of Regensburg, the district clinic Wörth, as it is now called, presents itself as a needs-based and medically efficient facility.
