Kumluca is a Turkish city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Antalya and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Antalya (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1993 . Kumluca is located on Finike Bay (Finike körfezi) , 94 km west of Antalya city center.
The city of Kumluca is purely an administrative and shopping city. The area around Kumluca ( Beykonak - Mavikent ) is considered to be the fruit and vegetable garden of Antalya. In family businesses, vegetables are mainly grown in greenhouses. Mostly tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, etc. are grown here. There are also many plantations with oranges, lemons and mandarins. Kumluca lies in a water-rich plain between the foothills of the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea . As a result, the urban area is at great risk of flooding after storms. Almost the entire plain is built on with greenhouses.
In Kumluca there is a two-part weekly market every Friday . The large covered vegetable market is located in the city center on the road to Antalya, the market for clothing, etc. is a bit out of the way in the city center, near the road to Altınyaka. There are bus connections to Antalya, Finike, Kale ( Demre ), Kaş and Fethiye as well as long-distance buses. Dolmuş minibuses serve city traffic and the wider area.
The larger town of Mavikent and the village of Karaöz (holiday home area) belong to the district of Kumluca . The Lycian long-distance hiking trail Fethiye - Antalya leads through this area .
In the mountains, the circle extends far past Kemer into the Beydağları Olympos National Park in the direction of Antalya. There you can find u. a. the town of Altınyaka (trout farm / restaurants) and in its vicinity an ancient city ( Saraycık / Kitanaura) near Gölcük and interesting geological (volcanic) formations. The Alakır Çayı River flows through this area, which is dammed behind the city of Kumluca in the mountains by the Alakır Dam .
Since a regional reform in 2014, the district has been identical in terms of area and population to the district town; all of the district's former villages and communities have become districts of the city. Since 1928 Kumnluca has the status of a municipality (Belediye)
Kumluca is less developed for tourism than its neighboring cities (Kaş, Finike, Kemer ).
Ancient sites
The following ancient sites are located in the area:
