Kurt Becker (journalist)

Kurt Becker (born March 31, 1920 in Hamburg ; † May 10, 1987 ibid) was a German journalist . From 1980 to 1982 he was government spokesman under Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt .

Life

Becker was an editor at Die Welt until he switched to the time in 1966 . At the beginning of 1971 he became editor-in-chief of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeer , in autumn 1975 he returned to the time and became deputy editor-in-chief and head of the political department. On December 15, 1980, Chancellor Helmut Schmidt brought him to Bonn as government spokesman and head of the press and information office of the federal government . His remarks repeatedly provoked resentment in the ruling party, the SPD, so that he was ultimately unbearable and was replaced by his predecessor Klaus Bölling on April 28, 1982 .
