With the team he won the OHL championship trophy in his rookie year in the form of the J. Ross Robertson Cup and also represented it in the prestigious Memorial Cup . Gabriel spent a total of four seasons in Owen Sound up to the summer of 2014 and completed 252 league games during this period. The Canadian was part of his squad for the following four years - with the exception that he also made some appearances for Minnesota in the NHL in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons, but could not establish himself there. The attacker spent the 2017/18 season completely in the AHL with the Iowa Wild. In the summer of 2018, Gabriel's expiring contract was not renewed, after which he moved to the New Jersey Devils as a free agent . In the same way, he moved to the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2019 .
