Laßnitzthal is a village and formerly an independent municipality with 1070 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in Styria and has been part of the political municipality of Gleisdorf since 2015 .

Laßnitzthal is located in the Weiz district in the Austrian state of Styria . The cadastral community Unterlaßnitz comprises the following two localities (number of inhabitants in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

history
The local community as an autonomous corporation was established in 1850. In 1873 the Styrian Eastern Railway opened from Jennersdorf to Graz with a stop in Laßnitzthal. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community became part of the Reichsgau Steiermark, from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
As of January 1, 2015, it was merged with the municipalities of Labuch , Gleisdorf , Nitscha and Ungerdorf as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , the new municipality continues to carry the name "Gleisdorf".
politics
The last mayor of the municipality, which was independent until 2014, was Reinhard Hofer. After the 2010 elections, the municipal council was composed as follows: 7 SPÖ , 7 ÖVP , 1 FPÖ .
The last mayor was Erwin Gruber.

In Laßnitzthal there is a soccer club, the FCL (Laßnitzthal Soccer Club).
traffic
The Laßnitzthal train station is on the Styrian Eastern Railway . By December 2010, the single-track stop was converted into a double-track alternative station, but the station building had to be demolished.
