The Lamborghini Calà , also known as Italdesign Calà , is a concept vehicle designed by Italdesign Giugiaro for Lamborghini . It is a 2 + 2-seater coupe with a targa roof that was presented at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show as a possible successor to the Jalpa .

Although Chrysler sold Lamborghini to Megatech in 1994 , the Calà was built as a fully functional concept vehicle. However, after Lamborghini was resold to Volkswagen AG in 1998 , the project was postponed and ultimately not developed further to readiness for series production. It was not until 2003 that a successor to the Jalpa appeared with the Lamborghini Gallardo .

The shape of the body of the Calà was round and modern compared to other sports cars of its time. The many air inlets, the large rear wing and the four chrome-plated tailpipes are particularly striking. At over 1.2 meters, the car was also relatively high for its class, which was justified with comfort.

Drive and technical data

The Calà is driven by a front mounted the rear axle 90 ° - V10 -Ottomotor with 3.9 liters and a power of 300 kW (408 hp) at 7200 min -1 . The power is transmitted to the rear axle via a six-speed manual gearbox that is interlocked with the differential . The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in around five seconds; the top speed is around 290 km / h. The frame was seamed and glued from aluminum sheets, the body was made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic .
