Larry Brezner
Lawrence Ira "Larry" Brezner (born August 23, 1942 in New York City , New York ; † October 5, 2015 in Duarte , California ) was an American film and television producer.
Life
Born in the New York Bronx , Brezner studied at the University of Bridgeport and St. John's University . He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Masters in Psychology. He then worked as a teacher at a primary school in Spanish Harlem before moving into the entertainment industry. In 1974 he opened a nightclub in Manhattan , where he met producer Jack Rollins . In the same year he joined Rollins, Charles H. Joffe and Buddy Morra and became a partner there in the late 1970s. After Rollins, Joffe and Morra withdrew from the company, David Steinberg and Stephen Tenenbaum joined the company, which from then on traded as MBST Entertainment, Inc. (Morra Brezner Steinberg & Tenenbaum).
From the mid-1980s, Brezner acted as executive producer for various comedy specials on US television. Brezner supported the careers of artists such as Billy Crystal , Robin Williams , Martin Short and Bette Midler , among others .
1984 followed with Schmeiß 'Mama from the train! his first project as the main responsible film producer. This was followed by productions such as Good Morning, Vietnam , My Devilish Neighbors and Spurlos . In 2014 he produced the comedy Ride Along . His last project was the sequel Ride Along 2 , the completion of which Brezner did not live to see.
He died in October 2015 of complications from leukemia that had been diagnosed a few months earlier. Brezner left behind his third wife and two daughters. In his first marriage, he was married to the singer Melissa Manchester for seven years , whom he represented as manager at that time. His second marriage to Bett Zimmerman also ended in divorce.
