The Latvian Orienteering Federation ( Latvian Latvijas Orientēšanās Federācija, LOF ) is the national orienteering federation of Latvia . It was founded in 1963 and is a member of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).

history

The first orienteering competition in Latvia took place in 1936. From the end of the 1950s competitions were held regularly in the Soviet Republic and in 1963 the LOF was finally founded. In 1991, after Latvia gained independence, the LOF was incorporated into the IOF.

In 2008, the European championships in Ventspils were the first internationally significant championships in orienteering in Latvia. In 2012 Edgars Bertuks won the first gold medal at the world orienteering championships for the LOF.
