The Swedish Orienteering Federation (Swedish: Svenska Orienteringsförbundet, SOFT ) is the national orienteering federation of Sweden . It was founded in 1938, making it the oldest national orienteering association in the world.

history

The association was founded on January 6, 1938. Sweden was the first country to have a national orienteering association. The umbrella organizations were founded in Finland and Norway in 1945. In 1938 they were accepted into the Swedish National Sports Association . In 1961 SOFT was one of the founding members of the International Orienteering Association .

There are currently over 90,000 members organized in around 600 associations.
