The Orienteering Federation of Estonia ( Estonian Eesti Orienteerumisliit, EOL ) is the national orienteering umbrella organization of Estonia . It was founded in 1962 and became a member of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) in 1991 .

history

The first orienteering competition in Estonia took place (depending on the source) on June 19 or June 27, 1926 in Pirita . EOL was founded on December 16, 1962 in what was then Soviet Estonia. After Estonia gained independence, the EOL was incorporated into the IOF on December 27, 1991 . The first Estonian championships were held in Nelijärve in 1959 , in the ski orienteering race in 1960. In 2006, Estonia hosted the European orienteering championships and in 2017 the world championships were held in Otepää for the first time.
