The Orienteering Federation of Norway (Norwegian: Norges Orienteringsforbund, NOF ) is the national orienteering federation of Norway . It was founded in 1945, is a member of Norges idrettsforbund og olympiske og paralympiske komité and founding member of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).

history

The roots of orienteering in Norway go back to the turn of the century. From 1934 the Norwegian Athletics Federation Norges Friidrettsforbund (NFIF) organized orienteering in Norway and in 1936 a Norwegian championship was held for the first time . The workers' association Arbeidernes Idrettsforbund started orienteering in 1935. The NOF was founded on October 1, 1945. In 1962 the first European orienteering championships took place in Løten . In 1978 ( Kongsberg ), 1997 ( Grimstad ) and 2010 ( Trondheim ) Norway hosted the World Championships.
