History and infrastructure: Buch-Geiseldorf stop

Originally, Leiten was only the homestead on the left , west side of the valley (the conscription numbers , today addresses Oberbuch 1–3), while (Ober-) Buch the houses on the right bank of the Wegkapelle , while Unterbuch is on the left downstream of the stream. Leite is an old Upper German word for "(steeper) slope", here the foot of the Buchberg, which protrudes across the direction of the Riedlland from the east into the valley. North of the train runs up to Sankt Magdalena with the Magdalenakirche .

In 1891 the continuation of the Fehring – Fürstenfeld local railway to Hartberg was built here and opened on October 19th of that year. This also gave Buch a train station. In the course of time, the settlement closed somewhat, Leiten today comprises around 14 of the houses around Oberbuch.

With the crisis of rail traffic in the late 20th century, especially on branch lines, the station was downgraded to the Buch stop ( Geiseldorf had its own stop). In 2004, the frequency was then only three newcomers and one dropout per working day. Operation of the stop was then discontinued.

In addition, a junction was created here in the cycle path network of Eastern Styria, here the R35  Hartberger cycle path , as well as the R36  St. Magdalena cycle path (in the village connection to the R12  thermal cycle path ), and the cycle and train concept in FF and HB ( regional biking with a bicycle card) ) in cooperation with the ÖBB is part of the traffic management concept (and also the regional development program for tourism).

The starting point is the Gasthof Falk at the train station. The linden forest east of the village is worth seeing , a well-tended, closed population of old linden trees , and there are several field crosses on the hiking trail over the Buchberg.
