Leonhard Jansen

Leonhard Jansen (born July 26, 1906 in Mönchengladbach , † January 22, 1997 in Brüggen ) was a German-speaking poet and writer.

Leonhard Jansen was born on July 26th, 1906 in Mönchengladbach . From 1929 he lived in Brüggen. Even as a carpenter's apprentice, he wrote poetry. In 1932 Leonhard Jansen founded the Brüggener Spielschar, of which he was director for many years. Because of his resistance to National Socialism , he was drafted prematurely for military service in a special unit. After the Second World War he was chairman of the Association of War Disabled, War Survivors and Social Pensioners (VdK, since 1994: Social Association VdK Germany ) and in the council of the municipality of Brüggen. He has written numerous novels, volumes of short stories, poems and plays, over 30 radio and 2 television programs with poetry. On 22. January 1997 Leonhard Jansen died in Brueggen .

During his lifetime he received the following awards:

  • 1970 the VdK Literature Prize
  • 1980 Awarded the Rhineland Taler
  • 1981 Badge of Honor of the City of Mönchengladbach
  • 1981 Peace plaque from the Homecoming Association of Germany
  • 1986 Golden badge of honor from the Federal Association of the VdK
  • 1989 honorary citizen of the municipality of Brüggen.
