Les Forges ( Breton : Ar Govelioù , Gallo: Lez Forj ) is a commune Déléguée in the French commune of Forges de Lanouée with 455 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

geography

Les Forges is located in the north of the Morbihan department on the border with the Côtes-d'Armor department and belongs to the Pays de Josselin.

Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Le Cambout and Plumieux in the north, Mohon and Saint-Malo-des-Trois-Fontaines in the east, La Grée-Saint-Laurent and Lanouée in the south and Pleugriffet and Bréhan in the west, in the Côtes-d'Armor department .

The place itself is on the D778 from Josselin to Loudéac . Another regional road connection is the D16 from Josselin via Rohan to Mauron . The most important supraregional connection is the N 24 , which runs around twelve kilometers south of Les Forges. The closest connection to this is west of Josselin.

The most important bodies of water are the Lié , Ninian and Oust rivers , the canalised Canal de Nantes à Brest , and the Blaye and Durbœf creeks . These partly form the commune and departmental borders. There are also some small ponds in the municipality. Most of the community area is covered by the Forêt de Lanouée .

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro-Sant-Maloù (French Pays de Saint-Malo) and within this region to the Bro Loudieg area (French Pays de Loudéac) and shares its history. From 1883 until its dissolution on September 10, 1926, it belonged to the Arrondissement of Ploërmel. Les Forges was created as a municipality in 1883 when the then municipality of Lanouée was split. Since then, the place has been assigned to the canton of Josselin.

The municipality of Les Forges merged with Lanouée on January 1st, 2019 to form the Commune nouvelle Forges de Lanouée. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée.
