Liga Asobal 2008/09

The ASOBAL league is the top division in Spanish handball . The 2008/2009 season of the ASOBAL league was the 49th in its history.

Ciudad Real was the defending champion who had won their 3rd title the previous season. The season started on Saturday, September 13, 2008 and ended on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The leader of the table after the 30th matchday was automatically the 2009 Spanish champions. A total of 16 teams fought for the championship, 14 of which were already in the season Had competed in 2007-08, and two of them were promoted from the División de Honor B.

There was also a new match ball, the SELECT Super Five , which was the official match ball for all games this season.

In this club, clubs are elected that should raise the level of the EHF Champions League. A Bundesliga team also takes part in this qualification tournament.
