The Ligier Nissan DPi , also known as the OnRoak Nissan DPi , is a prototype racing car that was produced in 2017 by the French racing car maker Ligier , then still known as OnRoak Automotive, in collaboration with the Nissan motorsport department NISMO for the Daytona Prototype international class of the IMSA Racing series was built.

In 2017 the Daytona Prototype International (DPi) class was introduced by the IMSA . The racing cars starting in this class are based on the LMP2 vehicles already homologated by the ACO and FIA .

In 2016, OnRoak Automotive started with the support of NISMO with the development of the Nissan DPi parallel to the Ligier JS P217 , which served as the basis. In contrast to the LMP2 regulations, the DPi allows its own chassis and, instead of a standard engine, an independent engine. Therefore, the 3.8-liter V6 engine from Nissan, which was already used in the Nissan GT-R GT3 , was used.

The Nissan DPi first raced at the 2017 Daytona 24-hour race .

Teams

In contrast to the LMP2, works teams can be deployed in the DPi class. In the 2017 and 2018 seasons, the US team Tequila Patrón ESM fielded two Nissan DPi for NISMO in the championship. At the end of 2018, the team withdrew and the US team CORE Autosport started with a racing car in the following season.
