Röthenbach near Sankt Wolfgang
Ensemble in the center of Röthenbach near Sankt Wolfgang
File number E-5-76-151-2
The ensemble includes the historic center of Röthenbach along the Alte Salzstraße, an old thoroughfare that crosses the Schwarzachtal from north to south and climbs in an arch to the north. The larger district north of the Schwarzach, which formerly belonged to the imperial city of Nuremberg, is dominated by the sandstone block construction of the late Gothic parish church. The sandstone buildings of the rectory and the parish hall are in the same line to the west. To the north and east of the church, large old inns rise on the slope, which are accompanied by half-timbered annexes. They illustrate the old importance of Röthenbach as a pilgrimage center (Wolfgang cult) and as a rest stop on the old trunk road. These are steep gable buildings from the 17th / 18th centuries. Century mostly half-timbered systems. To the south, lower tiered farmhouses and individual new buildings are in front of them, in front of which the undeveloped valley meadows, which have a major impact on the townscape, spread out.
South of the Schwarzach is the much smaller district, which was subordinate to the margraviate of Ansbach. A group of four old properties located south of the bridge in front of a forest film, including the Ansbach judges' house and the customs house, come into view with the main part of the village on the opposite slope. Although these historical dominance relationships have remained formative for the townscape, Röthenbach near St. Wolfgang can be described as a characteristic village picture of the Nuremberg area.

Ensemble Glass Loop Sorg with Talstraße / Am Sillberg (file number E-5-76-151-3)
The ensemble includes the optical factory located on the southern edge of the Schwarzach Valley and the development of the narrow street leading from the Schwarzach Bridge to the elevated terrace in its lower part. The plant located on the river with its low workshop and administrative wing emerged from the hammer mill of the von Kornberg family, which was founded in 1347 and operated as such until 1914, when it was then set up as a glass loop (optical factory). Along the uphill street there is a smaller Wilhelminian style residential building - probably the factory owner -, a rural property with an inn, the small community center with a roof turret and smaller residential buildings. The buildings are one- and two-storey saddle roof buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Century, plastered or in sandstone ashlar. Behind the southern row of houses rises a tower that was probably built in the late Middle Ages to protect the hammer mill.

Wendelstein
Ensemble town center Wendelstein
File number E-5-76-151-1
The ensemble encompasses the entire historical market town between the valley lowlands in the south and the Schwarzachschleife in the west, north and northeast. Rising in a wide arc to the high terrace with the church district at the top in the northeast, the west-east-facing main road is the main axis of the village, first mentioned in 1282 in a Schwarzach loop, which developed from a royal court of the 11th century. The square of the Königshof is now only marked by the former castle, Kirchenstraße 3, which belonged to Nuremberg for a long time. However, together with the parish church of St. George and its churchyard fortifications, the remote former center has been preserved here, which points to the history of the place or vividly passes it on.
The main street between the abandoned Lower and Upper Gate forms the core area of the village today. This curved street extends in its middle part at the confluence of the Mühlstraße to a triangular market place. Although Wendelstein never obtained market rights, it has had all the characteristics of a market since the late Middle Ages and has been mentioned as such since 1529. The bourgeois development is mostly closed and consists mainly of eaves-side houses from the 17th to 19th centuries with saddle, hip and mansard roofs, among which there are half-timbered, plastered and house built-ins. Slight projections and recesses in the buildings as well as staggering enliven the overall character of the ensemble as well as the paving of the street and the Ludwigsbrunnen, built in 1878 by Friedrich Wanderer. The dominant feature is the centrally located town hall, built in 1886/87, an elaborate building in neo-renaissance forms, which documents the economic boom during the Wilhelminian era. Other buildings that determine the image of the main street are the half-timbered house no.13, the baroque rectory no.25 as well as the half-timbered building of the former poor and school house at Untere Rathausgasse 24.
Closely interlinked with the redevelopment of the main street is the settlement area to the south, which is accessed from the parallel, narrow Untere Rathausgasse. Smaller eaves and gable roof houses from the 17th to 19th centuries are loosely and irregularly laid out. Along the Untere Rathausgasse there is also the still noticeable trench cut of the old fortification ring built at the beginning of the 16th century. This settlement area, characterized by petty bourgeoisie and largely preserved in its historical substance, is particularly characteristic of the economic structure of the place, whose residents were mainly active in commerce since the 14th century. In addition to the craft of blacksmithing, there is also that of knives, blade smiths, grinders and scabbard makers, and later also that of wood turner. To the south of the town hall, Untere Rathausgasse widens to a triangular, plaza-like center that is axially related to the market street opposite.
To the north, in the axis of the town hall building, extends the differently built-up market street, which finally turns into the factory street. The latter is a street name that is historically meaningful, as the street leads to the former paper mill with a 17th century building that had developed into a factory. The northern one is structured in terms of urban development through the street intersection Fabrikstrasse / Marktstrasse and Kirchenstrasse / Vorderer Mühlbuck, and on the other hand it is built up irregularly. The mansions and factory-like mill buildings on the Schwarzach have remained formative, as have the irregular, small-scale residential buildings, probably for the mill workers. However, this historical structure has been affected by the new residential buildings built at the southern end of Mühlenstrasse.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
