The oldest parts of this old castle mansion date from the 14th century. Originally the von dem Rykenberg family lived here, the builder of the house was Arnold von dem Rykenberg. His descendant, Dietrich, could not hold the house, after which it passed into the possession of various heed-males families. Around 1960 the city of Werl bought the building and extensively renovated it. Today the city museum Am Rykenberg - Wendelin-Leidinger-Haus is housed in the rooms. 7th

To the north of the moat there is a chapel with a retracted choir, it was built in 1698 in green sandstone. The walls are structured by clover-leaf windows, and a roof turret sits on the hipped roof. The neo-Gothic mansion in irregular design was built in several construction phases. The core building with seven axes is plastered, the western extension is stone-visible. The facility is surrounded. The early construction history is unclear, a document mentioning it as the property of the Cologne Order of St. Cecilia has come down to us for 1282. According to a name, the core building was erected in 1790 instead of a previous building. Vinzens Statz made the plans for the construction of the west wing in 1854. The tower is square and the chapel faces south. Adolf Kessemeier redesigned the old building in a neo-Gothic style in 1885. Inside, the ceiling and wall coverings planned by Statz have been preserved. The interior of the chapel dates from the time it was built, the colored windows were made by Adolphe Napoleon Didron in 1857. The Rentei is in the south-eastern farm yard, it was built in the 18th century in half-timbered with fan rosettes, the back is slated. unexplained 44

The saint's house stands on a street island and previously served as the 11th station on the Way of the Cross. During the Second World War it was badly damaged and the relief inside was completely destroyed. To save the house from final ruin, the roof with eaves cornice and the ceiling in the interior were renewed. The gable wall was anchored to the rear masonry, the area of the foundation walls was insulated and the water flow improved. The donor plate was preserved. 1746 65

The court chapel stands on the edge of a court complex that was first mentioned at the end of the 12th century and which was surrounded. The building is made of brick, it has a choir closed on three sides and a roof turret. The year of construction is given in a designation in the portal lintel. The two mounted wings of a carved altar from around 1500. The altar was probably previously in the provost church, it is framed in baroque style with columns and volutes. The reliefs show scenes from the Passion of Christ, they are decorated with veils. The back of the wings show paintings with depictions from the life of Mary. Two figures of saints that probably belonged to the altar have been relocated and are being kept in another location. A carved house altar from the first half of the 17th century stands on the western wall. 1852 75

The canon of Münster and Paderborn, Johann Heinrich von Gertzen called von Sintzig, is mentioned in the donor's coat of arms. During a renovation from 1880 to 1883, buttresses were placed in front of it and a circular arched frieze was placed in front of it. A round arched door was broken into on both sloping sides on the west side. The roof turret was given a new design and the bell was cast in 1679. The altar in the interior rises with twisted columns, it comes from the construction time of the chapel. 1680 87

The Romanesque church building is made of green sandstone, it is a Romanesque hall. The tower is on the west side. The masonry is partly grouted, the 14th century choir closes on three sides. During this time the walls of the nave were also increased. The vault originally in the choir was replaced by a beamed ceiling before the 19th century. The window in the nave was enlarged in 1883. The portals on the north side are walled up, the portal on the west side was broken in later.

In 1883 the tower was opened through a double arcade towards the nave, the required iron support is encased. 1954 the west side of the tower was faced anew, the walls of the upper floors of the tower are divided by blind windows and arched openings. In the interior, a profiled choir arch rests on consoles. Walled-in coats of arms were probably originally keystones. The epitaph for Anna Margartha von Galen-Fridag is painted and labeled 1620. The bell was cast in 1748.

The four-wing, four-storey building, arranged in a cross shape, was erected in a panoptic arrangement. In the decades that followed, a number of modifications and additions were made. The south-western wing is shortened, the institution church has a transversely rectangular, recessed tower. Commercial and workhouses are on the edge of the facility. The outer walls are structured by alternating plastered surfaces and brick-facing masonry. Outside there are two-story, plastered houses for the director and staff along the wall. These buildings on plinths made of green sandstone are influenced by the idea of homeland security , some of them have half-timbered upper floors. 1905-1908 207
