Individual starts in detail
On June 29, 2004, eight small satellites were launched into orbit with a rocket : the Saudi Arabian communications satellites SaudiComsat-1 and SaudiComsat-2 (12 kg each) and SaudiSat-2 (35 kg), the US LatinSat-C liaison satellites and LatinSat-D (15 kg each), the US amateur radio satellite OSCAR 51 (12 kg), the Italian research satellite UniSat -3 (12 kg) and the French research satellite Demeter (125 kg).
The fifth mission followed on August 23, 2005 at 9:10 p.m. UTC. During this launch, two Japanese satellites were put into low orbit. The primary payload was the Kirari satellite , which was used to test optical communication technologies on behalf of the Japanese space agency JAXA . The INDEX test satellite is to test various new devices and technologies in use in space.
