This is a list of the rivers in Guinea . The headwaters of several large African rivers are located in Guinea , which is rich in precipitation . With 97,780 km², the Niger catchment area takes up almost 40% of the country's area. The Gambia river has its source in Guinea and Senegal also has its source rivers here. Both drain the Fouta Djallon in the north of the country. The south of the country drains through the neighboring states of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ivory Coast into local river systems in the Atlantic. The west over corresponding coastal rivers and Guinea-Bissau.
