The list of Category A buildings in the Shetlands includes all listed buildings in Category A in the Scottish Council Area Shetland . The classification is carried out on the basis of the criteria of Historic Scotland , with buildings of national or international importance being sorted into the highest category  A. Twelve structures are currently listed in category A on the Shetland Islands.
