Alexander Scheucher | Hönower Strasse 213 | 3rd Sep 2018 | Alexander Scheucher lived with his wife Agnes and his son Ludwig in Mahlsdorf at least since 1926 at Hönower Straße 60, which became number 213 from 1938. As a businessman, he and his wife ran a lingerie and tricot shop (wool and haberdashery) at Blumenstrasse 1 in Friedrichshain until 1933. From 1933 the business had to be relocated to the place of residence and was run there until the forced sale of the house in 1940.
After selling the house, he and his wife moved to Agnes Scheucher's mother at Marienburger Strasse 7 in Prenzlauer Berg. On January 11, 1942, they were taken from there to the synagogue on Levetzowstrasse and from there two days later via the Grunewald train station to the Riga ghetto, where they arrived on January 16. On November 2, 1943, Alexander Scheucher was transferred to Auschwitz with the dissolution of the Riga ghetto, arrived there on November 5 and was murdered on the same day. His wife and son survived the Holocaust and moved to the USA, but have since died there. |
