Before the 2015 territorial reform, Liurai had an area of 18.97 km². Now there are 18.64 km². The Suco is located north of the Turiscai administrative office. To the northeast is the Suco Lessuata , southeast of the Suco Matorec , south of the Suco Beremana , west of the Suco Manumera and northwest of the Suco Caimauc . In the north, Liurai borders on the administrative office of Lequidoe, which belongs to the municipality of Aileu, with its Suco Faturilau . The Manotana River rises in the southeast of Liurai and becomes Haru on the border with Lessuata . In the west rises the Manorana , which flows across the Suco and flows into the Haru. The Haru eventually flows into the Lana , the northern border river of Liurai. The rivers are part of the Northern Laclós system . A source river of the Caraulun flows along part of the southern border with Beremana .
There are no major roads connecting the Suco with the outside world. For example, for the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007, the ballot boxes had to be brought to the polling station in the Sucos seat by helicopter and then picked up again. In the south lie the villages of Turiscai Lau ( Turiscailau , Turiscalai ), Fohonaru ( Fohonaro ), Bilimano ( Binimalo ) and Marcoluli ( Markoluli , Morcoluli ). In the east are the places Fanolelo ( Fanulelo ) and Titilauai ( Titilawai , Tetilawai , Telilawal ). There is a primary school in Marcoluli.
In the Suco there are the six Aldeias Bilimano , Fanolelo , Fohonaru , Marcoluli , Titilauai and Turiscai Lau .

history
In March 1976, Indonesian troops invaded the Turiscai Administration Office. Fighting broke out in Suco Liurai when it was occupied. Five FALINTIL fighters were killed, 300 of the people who fled were killed due to disease and hunger. Another 250 died of starvation and disease the following year when they were again driven from Lequidoe.
From 1980 to 1981, Liurai residents were forced to live in Turiscai. During this time, a woman and two 14-year-old girls were raped by Indonesian soldiers.
