Lizette Cabrera (born December 19, 1997 in Townsville ) is an Australian tennis player .

Career

Cabrera, who started playing tennis at the age of five, prefers hard courts. So far she has mainly played tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has already won two titles in singles and one in doubles.

On the WTA Tour in 2013 she received a wildcard to qualify for the Brisbane International , but in the first qualifying round she lost 4-6 and 2-6 against Bethanie Mattek-Sands .

In 2015 she received another wildcard for qualifying for the Brisbane International ; this time she was defeated in the first round by Jelisaveta Kulitschkowa 3: 6 and 3: 6.

She achieved her greatest successes to date in 2016, when she was able to play her way from a placement above 1000 at the beginning of the year to the top 300 at the end of the year with strong performances. At the beginning of the year she reached the main draw of Launceston International as a qualifier , where she was only just defeated 3: 6, 6: 2 and 3: 6 in the first round of the top seeded Donna Vekić . In May she reached the round of 16 at the $ 50,000 Fukuoka International Women's Tennis 2016 , where she lost 4-6 and 4-6 to Ksenija Lykina . With the two victories in September at the ITF tournaments endowed with 25,000 US dollars in Tweed Heads and Brisbane , she was able to place in the top 300 in the world rankings for the first time in her career . In April 2017 it improved to 174th place in the ranking.
