history

Field with vineyards and church in Lobão da Beira

Finds prove a prehistoric settlement. The Romans took over the Castro culture settlement located here .

The current place was probably created in the course of the resettlement policy after the Reconquista . The place was officially mentioned for the first time in the royal register of 1288, as the seat of the municipality of São Julião de Lobão, part of the then Besteiros district.
