Loitz is a district of the town of Burg Stargard in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
geography
The place is 8 kilometers southeast of the town of Burg Stargard and 15 kilometers south-southeast of Neubrandenburg in a terminal moraine area east of Lake Tollensee . The neighboring towns are Rosenhagen and Ballin in the northeast, Rehberg in the east, Bredenfelde in the southeast, Stolpe and Quadenschönfeld in the southwest, Gramelow in the west and Teschendorf in the northwest.
history
Under the name “Lonsewitze”, the first written mention of the place can be found in a document from 1496. In 1625 it is recorded under the name "Loitze". The place name is of Slavic origin and denotes a barren area.
On January 1, 1973, the previously independent municipality of Loitz was incorporated into Teschendorf. With the dissolution of the municipality of Teschendorf and incorporation into the town of Burg Stargard on September 27, 2009, the village became a district there.
Buildings
In addition to a manor complex with a manor house, the list of monuments in the Mecklenburg Lake District includes five other protected buildings in the village. Including the Protestant village church Loitz, which was completed in the second quarter of the 14th century .
