Lothar Krieglsteiner (2008)

Lothar Gundolf Krieglsteiner (born May 24, 1965 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German mycologist . Its botanical author's abbreviation is “ LGKrieglst. "

Life

Lothar Krieglsteiner was born as the third of five children of the teacher couple German Josef and Heidi Krieglsteiner in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Through his father, also a mycologist, Krieglsteiner got an early insight into mushroom science . In addition to his father, Hans Haas , Johann Stangl and Helmut Derbsch as well as other recognized mushroom experts were his teachers during this time . Later came Hans-Otto Baral, Jürgen Häffner, Hermann Neubert and Klaus Siepe , among others .

Krieglsteiner attended the Christoph von Schmid School in Durlangen and then the Parler High School in Schwäbisch Gmünd, where he graduated from high school in 1983 . After doing community service at the city planning office in Schwäbisch Hall , he studied biology at the universities in Ulm and Regensburg and completed his diploma thesis on Myxomycetes in the Regensburg area, including the highlands of the Bavarian Forest . He then did his doctorate with Andreas Bresinsky on the subject of mushrooms in the Mainfränkische Platten natural area and their integration into the vegetation .

So far, almost 50 scientific publications from his pen have appeared, mainly in the field of mushroom science . These include area monographs of the Main Triangle , as well as the Rhön and a nature reserve (NSG) near Regensburg ( Sippenauer Moor ). The focus of his scientific work is slime mold , hose fungi (especially muglets) as well as the ecological group of Saftlings societies of the little known genus purple leaves ( Pseudobaeospora ). In total, Krieglsteiner described six new species .

Krieglsteiner has been a guest lecturer at the Black Forest Mushroom Teaching Show and other adult education facilities since 2002 . In 2012 he founded the Swabian Forest mushroom school. In this context, he gives seminars, guided tours and lectures and carries out scientific commissioned work in the field of biodiversity research in fungi. Clients in the field of biodiversity research include a. National parks ( Eifel National Park , Bavarian Forest National Park ), municipalities and offices. Krieglsteiner can also be regarded as a pioneer in the consideration of mushrooms in the course of environmental impact reports. The cooperation with the city of Deggendorf led to the fact that for the first time a nature reserve ("Himmelreich-Hirzau") was designated due to the presence of mushrooms.

Krieglsteiner is a trainer of the German Society for Mycology (DGfM) and takes exams for PSV (mushroom expert of the German Society for Mycology). On their behalf, he is also a trainer for university training as a specialist consultant for mycology.

Newly described species

There are also several new combinations and an honorary designation: Mollisia lothariana Gminder 2007 (Ascomycetes, Leotiales, = M. sesleriae (Vel.) LGKrieglst. Ss. LGKrieglst.)
