Louis Mazetier (born February 17, 1960 in Paris ) is a French stride pianist.

Mazetier, who grew up in Aubusson , received classical piano lessons from the age of seven; In 1974 he discovered the music of Fats Waller and began to deal with jazz piano as an autodidact . In 1988 Mazetier founded a trio with Patrick Saussois (guitar) and Enzo Mucci (double bass), with which he accompanied Maxim Saury and Benny Waters . He also played with the Paris Washboard formation (with Daniel Barda , trombone, Alain Marquet , clarinet, Gilbert Leroux, later Gérard Bagot on the washboard), with whom he toured and recorded numerous albums. From 1991 he began to appear increasingly as a soloist; He has made guest appearances at major festivals in France such as Antibes, Marciac , Bayonne and Montauban, and at trad jazz meetings in Breda, Dresden and Plön. From the late 1980s onwards he made a series of duet recordings with François Rilhac, Bernd Lhotzky , Henri Chaix , Peter Ecklund , Dick Hyman , Jean-Loup Longnon , Jeff Barnhart and Neville Dickie , as well as several solo albums. In the field of jazz he was involved in 59 recording sessions between 1984 and 2012. a. with Gilbert Leroux 'Washboard Group, Jacques Gauthé and Marcel Zanini . He dedicated the composition “François” to his longstanding musical partner and friend François Filhac. Since the 2000s he played a. a. also with Warren Vaché , Ken Peplowski , Jake Hanna and Evan Christopher .
