Susan Rigvava-Dumas (born December 31, 1966 in Enschede , Netherlands ) is a Dutch musical performer and opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ) in opera and operetta .

Career

As an actress

Susan Rigvava-Dumas studied acting in Maastricht and singing at the University of Music in Munich and at the Salzburg Mozarteum . During her training, she was hired for various roles. She played the Stranger Princess in a performance of Dvořák's Rusalka and took part in both versions of Die Fledermaus and Figaro's Wedding .

As a musical performer

Due to her interest in a wide variety of musical styles, she also tried her hand at performing in musicals and soon had success as such. She embodied Madame Giry in the Stuttgart production of The Phantom of the Opera . There she could also be seen as Archduchess Sophie in a production by Elisabeth .

From 2006 Rigvava-Dumas worked at the Raimund Theater in Vienna . There she played Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca alongside Uwe Kröger and Wietske van Tongeren from the premiere until 2007 . The musical by Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier was performed after a break in 2008 from September to December 2008 with the original actors. Between January and July 2008, a production of the Queen musical We Will Rock You was played at the theater , in which she starred as Killer Queen.

In the spring of 2013 she appeared at the Klagenfurt City Theater instead of the sick Dagmar Koller alongside Harald Serafin in Andrew Lloyd Webber's successful musical Sunset Boulevard .

In 2014 she played Lucy Harris in Jekyll & Hyde at the Staatstheater Kassel and from 2015-2016 Lilli Vanessi in Kiss Me, Kate .

As a musician

In addition to her work as an actress, she is also successful as an interpreter of classical and contemporary music. In Moscow she gave concerts with works by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky . She has also performed with excerpts from Porgy and Bess and jazz pieces by Samuel Barber and Leonard Bernstein . Since December 2007 she has been a regular guest with Heinz Czadek's mini-big band Project Two in Vienna's Jazzland . Susan Rigvava-Dumas performed with the band in several other Austrian bars and clubs and played at music festivals.

Awards

Susan Rigvava-Dumas was honored with the International Dvořák Prize in 1990 for her work. In addition, her recording was recognized as the best jazz CD in France in 1996.
