reception

LA Times' Mikael Wood wrote that Love Me Harder "is a darker (and more sophisticated) R&B piece than you might expect from a 21-year-old singer who was once known for her endless supply of pastel princess dresses. "He also wrote that the song had adult themes and was" full of double ambiguities about simple sex; there's also a simple ambiguity - supplied by their trusted creepy duo partner, the Weekend - about feeling the 'pressure between your hips.' " Billboard's Jason Lipshutz thinks Grande and The Weeknd's collaboration makes sense, albeit entirely different be. He went on to say that the "leading guitar riff in the chorus is delicious' 80s cheese and the Weeknd's ultra-believable buzz works well while serving as a callback to Grande's need for romantic satisfaction." The Guardian wrote that the "satiated mood with medium ." Tempo “distinguishes the piece.
