Lucia Scardoni (born March 22, 1991 in Verona ) is an Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Scardoni, who competes for the GS Fiamme Gialle for the 2007/08 season for the first time in the Alpine Cup. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Courchevel in 2009 , she ran in sprint 22nd before she crossed the finish line in 57th place over the 5 km individual distance. Two weeks later Scardoni was in the top ten for the first time in the Schilpario Alpine Cup . She also successfully competed in the following junior races in Italy. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2010 in Hinterzarten , she reached 32nd place in the 5 km race. With the relay she was ninth after 4 × 3.3 km. In the following year in Otepää , Scardoni was again without a medal.

In January 2012, Scardoni won her first two Alpine Cup races in Arvieux, France . On February 11, 2002, she then gave her debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in Nové Město na Moravě . With the 44th place, however, she remained without points and was not able to make the leap into the senior national team. So she stayed in the Alpine Cup. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Erzurum , Scardoni finished 21st in the 10 km classic race. In the skiathlon over two 7.5 km she reached 23rd place. After mediocre placements in the Alpine Cup, Scardoni started at the U23 World Championships in Liberec in January 2013. In the skiathlon, she achieved her first individual top 10 placement with 10th place Junior World Championships. Shortly afterwards, she also started with the seniors for the first time and traveled to the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme. After a poor 42nd place in the skiathlon, she finished eighth as part of the relay with this. In the 30 km final race she finished 28th. At the end of winter 2012/13, Scardoni started at the 2013 Military World Ski Championships and ran over 10 km to 23rd place.

At the beginning of winter 2013/14 Scardoni got a starting place in the World Cup squad. In the opening stage race she was 69th in Kuusamo . She broke off the Tour de Ski 2013/14 after 6 stops and did not start in the pursuit race in Val di Fiemme. In February 2014, she won two Alpine Cups in Oberwiesenthal . In September 2014 Scardoni started the Rollerski World Cup for the first time and convinced with two fourth places. After she again achieved four top 10 placements in Oberwiesenthal in January 2015, including a win and a third place in the Alpencup, Scardoni started at the Sprint World Cup in Otepää. As the 41st she could not win any World Cup points again. She also remained unsuccessful in the following World Cups and therefore went back to the Alpine Cup in mid-February, where she had three more victories in Campra, Rogla and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc by the end of the season and thus also won the overall Alpine Cup ranking.

At the Rollerski World Championships 2015 in Val di Fiemme , Scardoni barely missed a first medal as fourth in the classic mountain run over 10 km. At the beginning of winter 2015/16 she came 37th at the Nordic Opening in Ruka . She got her first World Cup points with 15th place in the sprint stage. This was followed by 35th place in the Tour de Ski 2015/16 and a victory in the Alpine Cup over 10 km classic on the Großer Arber . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she came in 33rd place over 10 km classic, tenth place with Ilaria Debertolis in the team sprint and ninth place with the relay. Her best results at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 24th place in the sprint and ninth place with the relay and at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol, 25th place in the sprint and seventh place with the relay. At the Rollerski World Championships in Madona in 2019 , she won the silver medal in the classic 10 km and team sprint.
