Lucy Pevensie was born in England around 1932. Nothing is known about her early childhood.

Discovery of Narnia

The king of Narnia

During the Second World War , Lucy and her siblings were sent to the countryside in the home of Professor Digory Kirke. She discovered Narnia playing hide and seek with her siblings in a closet, in which she was hiding. There she met the faun Mr. Tumnus (also Mr. Tumnus, Sir Tumnus ), who told her that the white witch Jadis, the illegitimate Queen of Narnias, had put a curse on Narnia, which said that it would be winter forever, but never Christmas. Mr. Tumnus invited Lucy to his home for tea and confessed that this was a trap and that he had to hand her over to the White Witch, as she had ordered every person to be turned over to her. But Mr. Tumnus helps Lucy to escape and she leaves the closet and immediately tells her siblings what happened. But they don't want to believe Lucy.

When Lucy goes to Narnia again that night, her brother Edmund follows her and also arrives in Narnia. There he meets the White Witch, from whom he can be persuaded that she is the real Queen of Narnia, and he should come back to Narnia with his siblings so that she can crown him king. Lucy was with Mr. Tumnus again during this time. Lucy and Edmund later meet in Narnia and return to their world. But when Lucy tells her siblings that Edmund has now also been to Narnia, Edmund says that they only played.

The next day the siblings play throwing ball, with Edmund throwing the ball through the window. To escape the anger of the housekeeper Mrs. Macready, the 4 siblings flee into the closet and discover Narnia. Once there, Lucy wants to introduce her siblings to Mr. Tumnus, but all she finds is his devastated hut. The four siblings found a letter in the apartment saying that Mr. Tumnus had been arrested for high treason. Outside, the children met a beaver who invited them into his den.

The beaver and his wife told them about Aslan , the true king of Narnia, and that the Pevensies were chosen to defeat the White Witch. While they were talking to the beavers, the Pevensies noticed that Edmund had suddenly disappeared. When the White Witch's wolves threatened her, she and the beavers fled. On the way they met Santa Claus , who gave Lucy a dagger and a fire flower elixir that can be used to heal any wound. After the pevensies and beavers arrived at Aslan's camp, Aslan's forces released Edmund from the clutches of the White Witch. When Aslan sacrificed himself for Edmund, Lucy and her sister Susan accompanied him. After Aslan was resurrected, he fought against Jadis and killed her.

After the battle is won, Lucy is crowned Queen of Narnia alongside her siblings as Queen Lucy the Brave .

Reign as queen in Narnia

The ride to Narnia

The age in which Lucy and her siblings rule Narnia is described as the Golden Age . The book The Ride to Narnia takes place at the time when Lucy and her siblings were kings of Narnia. In this story, Lucy fights for Archenland in the battle against the Kalormenen.

The King of Narnia (end)

At the end of The King of Narnia , Lucy, who is already an adult, discovers the street lamp in the lantern thicket, the part of Narnia where Lucy met Mr. Tumnus, walks with her siblings along the path by which she originally came to Narnia and comes with hers Bring the siblings back through the closet to the professor's house. While over 10 years have passed in Narnia, only a few minutes have passed here. So Lucy and her siblings are as old as they were at the beginning of the book.

Later trips to Narnia

Prince Caspian of Narnia

A year after their first visit to Narnia, Lucy and her siblings are standing at a subway station to get to the school and from there they are called back to Narnia by Prince Caspian X through Susan Pevensie's horn. While only a year had passed in their world, 1,300 years had passed in Narnia. Once in Narnia, the Pevensies rescued the dwarf Trumpkin, who told them that the Telmarians, a human race from the west, had conquered Narnia in the absence of the Pevensies and had left Aslan Narnia.

Lucy was the first of the pevensies Aslan saw, but at first nobody wanted to believe her. Gradually, however, the other pevensies saw him too. At Aslan's side, Lucy later defeats the Telmar forces. After Caspian was crowned King of the Narnianas and the Telmarians, Lucy and her siblings returned to England.

The journey on the dawn

A year after their second stay in Narnia, Lucy and Edmund spend their vacation with their cousin Eustachius. There the two discover a picture through which they and Eustachius get to Narnia on board the ship Dawn . This time 3 years have passed in Narnia. On board the Dawn is among others Caspian, who has made it his mission to find seven of his father's missing lords.

On a lonely island she is kidnapped by the booby legs and has to cast a spell that is in a thick magic book. In the book, however, she finds out what her friend is secretly saying about her and ultimately even wants to look like her sister Susan. Aslan explains to her that she made a mistake in doubting herself.

At the end of the trip, Lucy learns that she will not return to Narnia because she has grown too old, and she returns to her world with Edmund and Eustachius.

Inspirations

CS Lewis was inspired by two different people for the character of Lucy Pevensie. On the one hand by Lucy Barfield , the daughter of the writer Owen Barfield and goddaughter of CS Lewis, who was dedicated to The King of Narnia . On the other hand , there was Lucia Brocadelli (also Lucy da Narni ) from the Italian community of Narni , who is still venerated by the Catholic Church today.
