Ludger Schepers (born April 18, 1953 in Oberhausen-Osterfeld ) is auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Essen .

Life

After graduating from high school in mathematics and science at Novalis Gymnasium in Oberhausen , Ludger Schepers entered the seminary of the diocese of Essen . He studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg . He was ordained a deacon on January 13, 1978 . On March 2, 1979, Schepers received the sacrament of ordination through Bishop Franz Hengsbach in St. Joseph, Essen-Steele-Horst .

Ludger Schepers worked as a chaplain in the parish of St. Bonifatius in Essen-Huttrop and Herz Jesu in Duisburg-Neumühl from 1979 to 1986 . From 1986 to 1990 he was city ​​youth pastor in Oberhausen and chaplain in the parish of St. Antonius in Oberhausen-Alstaden . The episcopal ordination received his Bishop Felix Genn on 19 September 2008 at the Essen Cathedral ; Co-consecrators were the Auxiliary Bishops Franz Grave and Franz Vorrath from Essen . On the same day he was appointed Episcopal Vicar for universal church and social tasks by Felix Genn , after he had already been appointed resident capitular at Essen Cathedral on September 5, 2008 .
