Ludwig Bachelin

Karl Eduard Edmund Ludwig Bachelin (born May 21, 1852 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † December 13, 1936 there ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Grand Ducal Baden Regional Court President Eduard Bachelin († 1877) and his wife Ida, née von Stoesser.

Military career

After visiting the Cadet Corps , Bachelin was transferred to the (2nd) Grenadier Regiment "King of Prussia" of the Baden Army on February 15, 1871, as a second lieutenant . On July 15, 1871, he was taken over by the Prussian Army . From October 1872 to March 1876 he served as a battalion adjutant and then worked as a regimental adjutant. In the meantime he had been promoted to Prime Lieutenant on April 12, 1879 . In position à la suite of his regiment, Bachelin was commanded on December 15, 1881 as an adjutant to the 61st Infantry Brigade in Strasbourg . Left in this command, he was transferred to the 7th Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 69 on October 14, 1884 . In mid-January 1885 Bachelin took up his duties as a captain in this association and was appointed company commander on November 13, 1886 . With effect from April 1, 1897, he was employed as a major and battalion commander in the newly formed Infantry Regiment No. 161 in Cologne . On July 3, 1899, Bachelin came to the staff of the infantry regiment "Vogel von Falckenstein" (7th Westphalian) No. 56 as a lieutenant colonel . With the promotion to colonel , he rose to regimental commander on April 22, 1902. On February 13, 1906, he was assigned to lead the 86th Infantry Brigade in St. Avold in Alsace . While at the same time being promoted to major general , Bachelin became the commander of this large unit on April 10, 1906 . On March 24, 1909, he was put up for disposal with the character of lieutenant general and the statutory pension .

During the First World War , Bachelin was re-used as a ZD officer and from November 11, 1917 acted as commander of the 201st division , which at that time was still in service on the Eastern Front . At the end of the month she moved to the west , where Bachlin and his division fought until it was disbanded on October 26, 1918.

Bachelin married Wilhelmine von Praun on September 22, 1879. The sons Eduard and Wilhelm as well as the daughter Elisabeth emerged from the marriage.
