Ludwig von Kamptz

Albert Ludwig Florus Hans von Kamptz (born September 20, 1810 in Neustrelitz , † May 15, 1884 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian civil servant and member of parliament.

Life

Ludwig von Kamptz came from a lineage of the Mecklenburg prehistoric nobility. He was the younger son of the lawyer and later Prussian Justice Minister Karl Albert von Kamptz (1769–1849) and his wife Hedwig Susanna Luzia, née von Bülow (1783–1847).

Career

In 1836 he entered the Prussian administrative service as a government assessor . In 1841 he became a councilor in Magdeburg . Two years later he was an unskilled worker in the Prussian Ministry of the Interior. In 1844 he was appointed police director and district administrator in Magdeburg. Kamptz was particularly loyal to the king and reactionary. During his time in Magdeburg he relentlessly fought the political and church opposition. The violent unrest in Magdeburg on March 15, 1848 was directed not least against him. Kamptz had to flee the city and give up his office. From 1851 Kamptz was senior government councilor and in 1863 government vice-president in Königsberg . In 1866 he moved to Potsdam . In the years 1872/73 he was regional president in Köslin and dean of the cathedral chapter of Naumburg . Between 1874 and 1884 he was district president in Erfurt . In 1877 he was reprimanded for criticizing the Department of Commerce.

Kamptz was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1852/53 and from 1855 to 1858 . From 1882 he belonged to the manor house .

family

On September 20, 1841, he married Anna von Krosigk in Merseburg († November 18, 1897 in Merseburg), a daughter of Friedrich von Krosigk . From the marriage u. a. the later Prussian Lieutenant General Friedrich von Kamptz (1845-1916) emerged.
