Luis Miguel Romero Fernández M.Id. (Born June 16, 1954 in Palencia , Spain ) is a Spanish Roman Catholic religious and auxiliary bishop in Rockville Center .

Life

Luis Romero Fernández grew up in Andalusia and joined the Order of Missionaries Identes in 1972 . He studied from 1974 to 1980 at the international seminary of his religious order in Tenerife and additionally in 1978 biology at the University of Seville . On September 11, 1981, he received the sacrament of ordination in Tenerife .

He initially worked as a religious priest in Saragossa and studied philosophy and literature at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 1985 . In 1987 he received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Zaragoza . After working in Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador as well as in Spain and India, he worked in the United States since 2014 as a provincial of his community and as a pastor in Hempstead . Since 2019 he has been Episcopal Vicar for the pastoral care of Hispanics and for evangelism in the Diocese of Rockville Center .

Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in Rockville Center and Titular Bishop of Egara on March 3, 2020 . The Bishop of Rockville Center, John Oliver Barres , gave him on 29 June of the same year, the episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were his predecessor William Francis Murphy and the Bishop of Columbus , Robert John Brennan .
