The place Luising (Hungarian Lovászad ) belongs to the municipality Heiligenbrunn . The village forms a cadastral community and is located in the Güssing district in southern Burgenland ( Austria ) near the Hungarian border. In 2001 the place had 135 inhabitants.
history
The place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) from the Middle Ages like the whole of Burgenland until 1920/21 . While Heiligenbrunn became part of the newly founded Austrian state of Burgenland in 1921, the cadastral community of Luising was only awarded to the Republic of Austria by the Allied Border Commission on September 26 and October 10, 1922 and handed over to it on January 10, 1923.

Luising lies between the Strem and the Pinka .
Culture and sights
- Filial church hl. Anna, built in classicist style in 1932.
- Wegkapelle, at the western exit of the village.
- Crucifixion group, at the eastern exit of the village.
- The residence of Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly is located on the northern edge of the village , an unusual example of a neo-historical palace built around the year 2000
nature
In the southeast of the village, on the Schachblumenweg, there is a small nature reserve, where there is a large occurrence of the chess flower , which is threatened with extinction in Austria .
