The 1908 MLB season was the seventh season of Major League Baseball (MLB).
For the third time in a row, the Chicago Cubs won the National League (NL). In 1906 and 1907 they still had a large lead over their pursuers, but in 1908 they were only able to defend the title by just one game over the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates, which were jointly in second place .
Last year's winner also won again in the American League (AL). For the Detroit Tigers the success was even closer than for the Cubs in the NL. With the same number of wins as the Cleveland Naps , which ended up second , the Tigers profited from the fact that they lost one time less and were half a game ahead of the Naps.
The World Series 1908 saw the same pairing as in 1907 and, as in the previous year, the Cubs won and thus won their second and to this day last World Series title.
