The sculpture Madonna and Child in the Notre-Dame church in Fargues , a French commune in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created in the 15th century. In 1908, the Gothic sculpture was added to the list of listed objects ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .
The wooden sculpture is 1.12 meters high and painted or gilded. The baby Jesus is sitting on Mary's left thigh and turns his face towards the viewer. Mary holds a scepter in her left hand and wears a crown on her head.
