Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic ( Japanese マ ギ ) is a manga series by Shinobu Ōtaka that has been published in Japan since 2009. The Shōnen and Fantasy series was implemented in the form of an anime television series and translated into German, among other things. The branch Magi: Sinbad no Bōken has been published since 2013 . The story is loosely based on the Arabian Nights and takes place in a magical world whose diverse cultures resemble those of medieval Asia .
action
The young trader Alibaba Saluja lives in a desert town and works for a rich merchant. He dreams of entering the tower in the middle of the city, a so-called "dungeon", and passing its tests in order to gain wealth himself. The dungeons popped up all over the world some time ago, promising wealth and power to those who pass their trials. When Aladdin appears, a wizard in the form of a child, he only gets Alibaba into trouble at first. But his Djinn Ugo, who lives in a flute and is called with her, and Aladdin's magic help Alibaba as does the slave Morgiana. Aladdin doesn't see that people should be slaves of others and tries to free them. Eventually, Aladdin and Alibaba become friends and go to the dungeon together.
There are many traps hidden in the dungeon that the two can only overcome with skill and intelligence. Behind them the ruler of the city has also entered the tower and lets his entourage overcome the traps for him, so that he is soon alone. Only Morgiana and one other slave are still with him. Aladdin and Alibaba can fight off his deceptions and attacks and eventually pass all the tests. Finally they reach the treasury, in which the ruler of the city and his two slaves soon appear. The cruel regent orders his slaves to attack, but is shortly afterwards surprised by the means Aladdin and Alibaba use to defend themselves. When it comes to a duel between Alibaba and the despot, Alibaba seems superior and he realizes that Alibaba is very good at palace fencing, which only high citizens are actually allowed to learn. After his victory, Alibaba receives great fortunes from the protector of the dungeon, the Fire Djinn Amon. This accompanies Alibaba from now on in the form of a dagger. Shortly before the dungeon collapses and buries the ruler with his second slave, the latter remembers a prophecy in which the coming of a magi was predicted. Alibaba, Morgiana, and Aladdin escape. Back in town, Alibaba buys Morgiana and all the other slaves in town. However, Aladdin ends up from the dungeon in a distant land. He gets into the fight of an old nomad tribe against the powerful Kou Empire. Its princess and commander Hakuei Ren ( 練 白 瑛 ) wants to protect the tribe and peacefully unite the world - however, her adviser wants to subjugate and enslave the tribe. In doing so, he hopes to become ruler himself, and uses several intrigues to pit the two parties against each other. Aladdin can mediate, convince the tribe of the peacefulness of Kou and help the princess by defeating her deputy together. He also learns what it means to be a Magi. These can use the power of Rukh, butterfly-like beings that transport and distribute the Magoi, the basis of sorcery, in the form of magic. Furthermore, they choose king candidates with jinn vessels, in Aladdin's case these are initially Alibaba and Amon by summoning dungeons and mastering them with selected people. How many king candidates a magi or how many jinn vessels a person has does not matter. Hakuei Ren is also a dungeon conqueror and has the wind Djinn Paimon. When peace is established, Aladdin sets out on a trip to Alibaba.
Meanwhile, Morgiana tries to get to Balbadd with a caravan. As a descendant of the Fanalis, a people who have superhuman strength and speed, after being enslaved again, she meets Aladdin and the two travel together to Balbadd, where Alibaba acts as the leader of the criminal fog gang, who steal from the rich based on Robin Hood's example to give what was stolen to people from the slums. On their journey, Aladdin and Morgiana also meet the mysterious Sindbad who is suddenly robbed down to the last shirt in front of them. When they arrive in Balbadd it turns out that Sinbad is eagerly awaited there by his generals Ja'far and Masrur, another member of the Fanalis. Sindbad introduces himself as the ruler of Sindria, who has seven jinn vessels at the same time and is the commander of a large armada of allied empires.
