Magic is a song by the British pop rock , alternative rock band Coldplay .
Album and production
The song is the second single from their upcoming album Ghost Stories and was released on March 3, 2014 by Parlophone. The track was co-produced by Paul Epworth, Rik Simpson and Daniel Green.
Music video
The music video produced by Jonas Åkerlund is about the sorceress Cecile (played by Ziyi Zhang ), her husband Claude (played by Chris Martin ), a famous but alcohol-addicted magician and her assistant Christophe (also played by Chris Martin) and plays at a fair. Cecile is oppressed and tormented by Claude. He also makes it clear to her again and again that she will never be as good as him. She seeks consolation from her assistant Christophe, who, through a flash of inspiration and trial and error, gains the ability to let objects (including himself) fly. When Cecile is once again tormented by Claude, Christophe intervenes. It comes to a duel between the two magicians, in which Christophe Cecile's husband Claude, with the help of his ability, lets him soar into the sky. Christophe and Cecile admit their love. Undisturbed, happy and celebrated, they then put on their sensational magic show together at the fair.
reception
The world recognizes the song as a terrific single . The newspaper praises that the polyphonic, shifting bass riff is minimalistic and yet tenderly simple. Rolling Stone magazine says Magic is a casual, romantic pop song.
