A Rush of Blood to the Head is the second studio album by the English rock band Coldplay . It was recorded in London and Liverpool between September 2001 and May 2002 and released on August 26, 2002.

background

The band began recording their second studio album just a week after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The past events were sometimes given as inspiration for the lyrics and influenced the songwriting process. The group wrote a total of over 20 songs for the album, the first of which was In My Place , which the band also released as the first single from the album. According to singer Chris Martin, this was also the decisive song that made the other songs "just like that".

Musically, the band has expanded its sound field, among other things, piano and electric guitar sounds appear more frequently than on the previous album.
