Addji Keaninkin Marc-Israel Guehi (born July 13, 2000 in Abidjan , Ivory Coast ) is an English football player who is on loan from Chelsea to Swansea City . The central defender has been England's U21 international since September 2019 .

Career

society

Marc Guehi started playing football with the Cray Wanderers and joined the youth team at Chelsea in 2007 . He played in various junior teams for the Blues and joined the U18 team in the 2016/17 season. For the 2018/19 season he established himself as a regular player in the Premier League 2 with the reserves. He made his first-team debut on September 25, 2019 in a 7-1 home win against Grimsby Town in the 2019/20 EFL Cup .

On January 10, 2020, he moved to the second division Swansea City in a loan deal until the end of the 2019/20 season , where he was supposed to collect match practice at men's level. For the Swans , he completed 12 league games and failed with the team in the promotion play-offs in the semi-finals at Brentford FC . He was used in both games. During the summer break, the loan was extended for the 2020/21 season.

National team

From August 2015 to February 2016, Guehi played nine international matches for the England U16 national team . From August 2016 he was in action for the U16s and took part with them at the U17 European Championship 2017 in Croatia and led England to second place as captain. The final was lost 6-3 after the penalty shootout against Spain . In autumn 2017 he became the U17 world champion with this selection , after a 5-2 win in the final against Spain at the lost European Championship final. Guehi scored his only tournament goal in that game. After the tournament, his time with the U17 ended after 21 appearances.

Between September 2017 and March 2018 he made four international matches for the U18 . From October 2018 to March 2019 he played six games for the U19s , in which he scored three times.

In June 2019 he made his debut in the U20 and in September of the same year in the U21 national team .
