Margaret Horb (born September 25, 1967 in Osterburken ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2013 to 2017 she was a member of the German Bundestag .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1987 at the all-day high school in Osterburken , Horb studied English , Protestant theology and business administration at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg . After stays abroad at the University of Wales in Swansea and the State University of New York , Horb began studying at the University of Taxes and Finance in Ludwigsburg , which she graduated with a degree in finance . She then worked in the financial administration of Baden-Württemberg in the tax offices of Calw , Heidelberg , Mosbach and Walldürn . Until her mandate , Horb was the representative for equal opportunities and the contact person for the AGG at the Mosbach tax office.

Margaret Horb joined the CDU and the Junge Union Baden-Württemberg in 1992 . In 1994 she became a board member of the CDU Osterburken and the Women's Union of Neckar-Odenwald . Since 1996 she has been a member of the district board of the Frauen Union Nordbaden. From 1999 to 2015, Horb was a state board member of the Frauen Union Baden-Württemberg. Since 2000 she has been the district chairwoman of the Women's Union of the Neckar-Odenwald district and a co-opted district board member of the CDU Neckar-Odenwald. She has been a district board member of the CDU North Baden since 2006 and has since headed the tax and finance working group at the district level. Since 2007 she has been a member of the CDU Baden-Württemberg's regional technical committee for Europe. Margaret Horb has also been chairwoman of the CDU city association in Osterburken since 2008.

From 2013 to 2017 Margaret Horb was a member of the 18th German Bundestag and a member of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group as well as a full member of the Finance Committee . She was an alternate member of the Committee on European Union Affairs. She also acted as secretary of the German Bundestag and was a member of the Stephanuskreis of her parliamentary group, which campaigns against the persecution of Christians. Furthermore, Horb was involved in the German-Irish and the parliamentary group of the Arabic-speaking countries of the Middle East. As a member of the German-Russian parliamentary group, she supported the German-Russian youth exchange year 2016/2017 with her own educational projects and was a member of the economics working group at the Petersburg Dialogue . In the Finance Committee of the German Bundestag, Horb was responsible for the topics of tax modernization, tax simplification , bureaucracy relief, church tax , insolvency law , tax code , customs , IT, digitization, tax administration , as well as money laundering and terrorist financing. During the legislative period, Horb campaigned, among other things, for a reform of the full interest rate (according to §233a Tax Code), but this failed due to the resistance of the SPD. Furthermore, she calls for a new edition of an ecological home ownership allowance in rural areas in order to revitalize town centers and to create affordable housing and residential property.

Margaret Horb is a board member of the Evangelical Foundation Care Schönau and the Evangelical Pfarrpfründestiftung Baden. She is a member of the non-partisan and inter-religious prayer group of the Foundation for Basic Values ​​and International Understanding. She is a member of the German Tax Union and was a co-opted member of the federal board from 2013 to 2017. Horb is a full member of the youth welfare committee of the Neckar-Odenwald district and the culture committee of the city of Osterburken. She is also a founding member of the Osterburken culture commode and the Borkemer stage. Margaret Horb is on the advisory board of the sponsoring association of the international youth program in Germany "The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Germany". As patron of the annual “BBC - Borkemer Benefiz Concerts” Margaret Horb supports the diverse volunteer work in her hometown of Osterburken.

Margaret Horb is Evangelical Lutheran , widowed and has two children.
