Maria Elisabeth of Saxony (1736-1818)
Maria Elisabeth Apollonia Kasimira Franziska Xaveria (born February 9, 1736 in Warsaw , † December 24, 1818 in Dresden ) was royal princess of Poland and princess of Saxony as well as a lady of the star cross .
Life
Maria Elisabeth was the twelfth child and also the seventh daughter of King August III. of Poland , who as Friedrich August II was also Elector of Saxony, and his wife Maria Josepha of Austria . She had a total of 14 siblings, 10 of whom survived childhood, including the later Elector Friedrich Christian and the last Elector of Trier , Clemens Wenzeslaus of Saxony .
In addition to the oil painting from 1755, there is another portrait of her, a 56 × 43 cm oval pastel painted by an unknown artist in 1742 . This picture hangs today in the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples .
Maria Elisabeth and her youngest sister Maria Kunigunde took part in the performance of the opera Talestri, regina delle Amazzoni in 1763 as muses of music. The composer was her sister-in-law, the musically gifted Princess Maria Antonia of Bavaria .
Maria Elisabeth was buried in the Wettiner crypt of the Catholic Court Church in Dresden.
