Marianne Pletscher (born June 25, 1946 in Zurich ) is a Swiss documentary filmmaker , author and lecturer in documentary film .

Life

Youth and education

After primary and secondary school in Zurich , Marianne Pletscher learned languages ​​at the Interpreting School in Zurich (DOZ) and graduated with a translator's diploma. She then began working as a reporter and editor for Swiss television (today Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) ) in the programs Tagesschau , Kassensturz , Antenne , CH-Magazin , Rundschau . In addition to her TV work and during long breaks, she studied political science at Harvard University , USA. She later studied feature film at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. This was followed by numerous additional training courses in adult education and a postgraduate course in development cooperation (NADEL) at ETH Zurich .

After Pletschers assignments as a reporter foreign correspondent and editor, she specialized in documentaries , mainly for the TV program DOK and great moment of the German and Romansch television. While working for television, she also made several films as a freelance writer. She has been self-employed since July 2011. She has made over 50 medium and long documentaries and won numerous awards.

In addition to working as a film author, she also began working as a lecturer for documentary film in the 1990s , both at the Swiss television SRF and at the media training center (MAZ) in Lucerne , at the media workshop in Bern and at the International University for Film and Television (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. She often did this teaching job with her partner, cameraman Werner Schneider. With him she made most of the films until his death in 2007. She has also worked as a supervisor on behalf of these schools several times . After 2007, supervised and trained them on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Nepal cameramen , journalists and filmmakers in the subject documentary. She worked as a coach for young filmmakers in Switzerland and Spain.
