The Spree crossing , known as Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Steg , is a public pedestrian bridge between the new parliament buildings Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus (MELH) and Paul-Löbe-Haus (PLH) in the Berlin district of Mitte of the district of the same name . The building does not yet have an official name. It spans the Spree in a gentle arc.

Above the footbridge, a 100-meter-long building connecting bridge connects the two houses on the sixth floor, which is only accessible from the inside. In the Bundestag jargon, the upper bridge is also called "higher civil servant career", on its railing there is also a sign with the inscription " Jakob-Mierscheid -Steg".

The two webs are, together with the the Federal Office leading to the Registrar garden Chancellery bridge across the river, constructive elements of the band of the Federal . This ribbon forms a linear development in the government district over the meandering Spree in an east-west orientation and is also intended to symbolize the unifying activities of the ministries for East and West Germany. At the same time, the person who came up with the idea, the architect Axel Schultes , provided a clear counterpoint to the “ world capital Germania ” planned during the Nazi era in a north-south direction . During the construction period of the new government buildings, the term " jump over the Spree " has also become commonplace for the pedestrian walkway.

"Lower bridge" and "Upper bridge" or "From PLH to MELH" are used as the speaking names of the two footbridges.
